Brandon Lisowsky (pictured) and Egor Sidorov accounted for all the winning team’s goals Wednesday as the Saskatoon Blades downed the Edmonton Oil Kings 5-3.
Lisowsky recorded a hat-trick, the fifth of his W-H-L career, and Sidorov added the other two as they kick-started their way towards equaling or bettering their output from last season when Lisowsky had 37 goals and Sidorov potted 40. The victory came before a $5.00 Night crowd of 5,859 – allowing all to receive free tickets for Saturday’s home game against Regina. After Edmonton opened the scoring for the sixth time in as many times this season, the Bridge City Bunch power play went to work – tallying on their first three opportunities to equal the special team’s output from the first four games. However, the Oil Kings battled back in the third period to tie the score at 3-3 before Lisowsky hammered a slap-shot past Edmonton goaltender Logan Cunningham with 6:20 left in the third period and added an empty net marker for the hat-trick. Sidorov added an assist for a three-point game while defenceman Tanner Molendyk and centre Trevor Wong each added two assists. The Blue and Gold out-shot the Oil Kings 36-19 as the Blades improved their record to 3-2-0 while Edmonton fell to 3-2-1. Saskatoon hosts the Pats Saturday at 7 o’clock with CJWW’s broadcast at 6:45 p.m. Following is the audio highlights from CJWW’s broadcast, Post-Game Show interviews with head coach Brennan Sonne plus Lisowsky and Sidorov and the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L…..
