Several affordable rental units have been completed and are able to start providing shelter to individuals facing homelessness in La Loche.
Methy Housing Corporation constructed eight one-bedroom tiny homes as part of the 28-home project to provide affordable housing to people in La Loche. The project was funded with over $1.3 million invested through a collaboration between the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, Infrastructure Canada, the Northern Village of La Loche, and Methy Construction and Maintenance Corporation.
Additional construction will soon begin on low-income housing for six single parent households, and residents are hoping to move in by summer of 2024. This will be funded by the same organizations and completed by the Methy Construction and Maintenance Corporation.
