What the Prince Albert Grand Council calls a vital homelessness support resource has closed.
Grand Chief Brian Hardlotte of the Prince Albert Grand Council is deeply concerned about the closure of the PAGC Urban Services’ Community Cares Kitchen, which served meals two times a day to Prince Albert’s most vulnerable residents.
It was brought about because of COVID-related funding, which has dried up, so it’s closing after two years of operation.
Hardlotte says the closure highlights an urgent and growing need to find sustainable, dignified solutions for the most marginalized community members.
As well, the PAGC is looking for collaborations on shelter services with the goal of having a location and permanent facility.
