The City of Saskatoon is warning residents that there appears to be a tree removal scam doing the rounds.
The City is getting calls from concerned residents who say they’ve been contacted by someone, via phone in the evening, who claims to be from the City of Saskatoon and asks to make an appointment to remove their “old and ugly” City elm trees.
In the one particular instance, firstly the Urban Forestry department doesn’t make calls in the evening about tree removal. As well, Bylaw Enforcement and the Fire Department do not contact residents about removing trees and finally, the residence in question did not have any City trees on the property.
The City wants residents to know this appears to be an impersonation scam.
