The Saskatoon Police Service says it was around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday that police received a report of a man carrying and pointing a firearm near the intersection of 20th Street East and 1st Avenue South. That’s the corner where Midtown Plaza and the Scotiabank Theatre are kitty-corner from each other.
Officers located a suspect in the area matching the description they’d been given who appeared to have a rifle strapped to his back.
Police made an arrest without incident and say the suspect was in possession of a lever action rifle.
A 22-year-old man is charged with Pointing a Firearm, Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Careless Use of Firearm, Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, and Breach of Conditions.
