Fifty Saskatchewan residents will have the opportunity to be part of a new training and mentorship program from the Saskatchewan Media Production Industry Association.
Ken Alexce, the Executive Director of SMPIA, says Prairies Economic Development Canada has provided $900,000 in program funding, with an aim to expand the Saskatchewan labor force in the media production industry.
SMPIA is also partnering with the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies and ensure that there is a minimum of 30 per cent Indigenous participation in the opportunity.
The project will provide successful participants with training workshops and on-set mentored positions with active productions happening in the province.
