Spiritwood RCMP are attempting to locate a man after receiving a report of a firearm discharge on the Pelican Lake First Nation on Thursday, March 30th.
Officers responded at 12:15 p.m., and through investigation determined that a group of people had shot at a house from a vehicle, and then drove away. Officers found the suspect vehicle at a business in Spiritwood. Police say as they approached, a male that was inside the business fled on foot, and the vehicle sped away. The vehicle evaded a traffic stop and continued driving for 45 minutes before a tire deflation device was deployed, and the vehicle came to a stop on Highway 55. Twenty-one-year-old Tyson Starblanket from Prince Albert was arrested and faced 13 charges. He appeared in provincial court on Monday, April 3rd.
Police say the man that fled on foot has been identified as 33-year-old Melvin Starblanket from Witchekan First Nation. He is facing 14 charges and a warrant is out for his arrest. Spiritwood RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in reporting any information on his whereabouts. Melvin Starblanket is described as 6 feet tall and 150 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He has several tattoos, including the letters KRD on the right side of his neck, a Superman logo on his right thumb, various others on his arms and back.
He is charged with careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing the possession is unauthorized, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, fail to comply with release order condition, weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization, fail to comply with undertaking, assault with weapon, and discharge firearm with intent.
