Wednesday’s provincial budget contains some assistance for wild rice and vegetable producers looking to make certain capital purchases.

For wild rice growers, the PST exemption will be on boats used to harvest the crop and vegetable growers will not have to pay the PST on the construction of storage buildings.

The rest of the Agriculture Budget consists of previous announcements for crop insurance, business risk management programs and agricultural research. The total Agriculture Budget is 19 per cent higher than the previous year at $548.2 million.
