The Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities is asking to be a part of the rural Heathcare conversation, as it believes there is a huge lack of healthcare support in rural Saskatchewan.
Ray Orb, SARM President, says he would like to collaborate with the government and other healthcare partners to bring better job retention, recruitment, and operating facilities to rural areas.
Orb suggests several solutions to alleviate pressures including a virtual appointment program, beginning the recruitment process in high schools, more available rural ambulances, and giving healthcare workers incentives to stay in small communities.
SARM is looking to meet with Minister of Health Paul Merriman and Minister of Rural and Remote Health Everett Hindley regarding attracting new healthcare workers to Saskatchewan.
