The Saskatoon Blades were thankful they had Jake Chiasson on their side, rather than playing against them as was the case for three-and-a-half years before the January 10th W-H-L Trade Deadline, as the 19-year-old winger scored the winning goal and added two assists to pace the Bridge City Bunch to a 4-2 triumph over the Brandon Wheat Kings Sunday.
Chiasson burned his ex-team with the game-winning goal on the power play and helped set-up for Jordan Keller (pictured) for both of his tallies, all in the third period as the Blue and Gold came from behind for a second straight game and third time in eight days to post a win. The Wheaties, now 19-22-7 and winless in their last four games, appeared ready to take advantage of a Blades’ squad that appeared tired and emotionally worn out after Saturday’s exhilarating 3-2 triumph over the Winnipeg ICE. Brandon held a 2-0 lead and went on a power play with seven minutes remaining in the second period. But, Ethan Chadwick stopped three Wheat Kings’ scoring chances on their man advantage and defenceman Charlie Wright scored before the second frame was over, propelling Saskatoon to the victory that improved their record to 32-12-4 in front of 4,038 fans. It was the second time this season that the Bridge City Bunch won after being behind through two periods. The Blue and Gold play their last home game before heading out on their first B-C Division road trip in four years when they host the Edmonton Oil Kings Tuesday at 7 o’clock. Following are the audio highlights, the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L and Post-Game Show interviews with head coach Brennan Sonne, Chiasson and Keller…..
