Rush Roster Set For N-L-L Saturday Season Start

The Saskatchewan Rush have set their 20-man roster ahead of this Saturday’s 2022-23 N-L-L season opener at home against Colorado.

G-M Derek Keenan and head coach Jimmy Quinlan have nine forwards, nine defence/transition players and two goaltenders listed – plus three players on the practice roster, three on injured reserve and two more listed as holdouts. Goaltender Cameron Dunkerley was released by the Rush. Saskatchewan versus Colorado faces off Saturday at 7-30 at SaskTel Centre.

Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatchewan Rush open the 2022-23 regular season on Saturday, December 3rd against the Colorado Mammoth at SaskTel Centre.

The Rush welcome back some familiar faces to the field including last season’s dynamic trio, Robert Church, Mark Matthews and Ryan Keenan, who led the team in points last season. Other returnees out the front gate include Dan Lintner, Marshall Powless, Josh Currier, Mike Mallory and Clark Walter. Marty Dinsdale will also be making a return to the Rush after signing with the Vancouver Warriors last season in free agency. Dinsdale had an outstanding preseason, notching six goals in three games, including the overtime winning goal in Calgary. Looking at the back door, All-league second team star Kyle Rubisch will be returning in green along with newly appointed captain Ryan Dilks. Matt Beers, Holden Garlent, Mike Messenger, Bobby Kidd III and Connor McClelland will also be returning to the defensive line.

There are many new faces hitting the turf this season, some familiar and some brand new to team green and black. Two players from the 2021 NLL Draft are now eligible to play, including defenders Ryan Barnable and Jake Boudreau. With four goals in three games, Boudreau proved himself in transition. On top of that, the Rush will be joined by 2022 NLL draft picks, forward Austin Madronic, defender Isaac Ngyou and transition Jeremy Searle. The Rush also will also add former Saskatchewan SWAT defender Wyatt Haux and street free agent Jerrett Smith.

Derek Keenan made the biggest splash between the pipes in the offseason, signing UFA Alex Buque to a two-year contract. Alex joins the lineup along with two other net-minders. The Rush acquired Eric Penney from the Philadelphia Wings in February along with a second-round pick in the 2023 draft in exchange for a 2022 23rd overall pick. Former Saskatchewan SWAT and Warman’s very own Laine Hruska joined the Rush mid-April through free agency and will be returning to the squad as a part of the practice roster.

Goaltender Cameron Dunkerley has been released from the roster. We would like to wish him all the best and thank him for his time in Saskatchewan.
