He may have been sidelined for 10 games by an injury, but Egor Sidorov (pictured) showed no rust in his game Saturday evening, collecting four points as the Saskatoon Blades blanked the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings 5-0.
The 18-year-old Belarus product had a power play goal and three assists, giving him eight goals amongst 15 points in six games played so far this season. Sidorov’s offence, along with 21 saves from Ethan Chadwick for the 18-year-old Saskatoon native’s first career W-H-L shutout, powered the Bridge City Bunch to their 13th win in 17 games in front of 4,009 fans at SaskTel Centre. Trevor Wong and captain Aidan De La Gorgendiere, the latter playing in his 200th career W-H-L game, each had a goal and an assist while Jayden Wiens and Vaughn Watterodt chipped in with tallies as well. Only the goaltending of Ronin Geraghty kept the score from being more lop-sided in the Blue and Gold’s favour as the defending league champion Oil Kings saw their record drop to 2-16-1 while being out-shot 43-21. Now it’s on to Sunday’s highly-anticipated first meeting of the season between Saskatoon and the Regina Pats, with consensus first overall pick in the 2023 N-H-L Draft Connor Bedard in their line-up. Game time is 4 p.m. with CJWW’s broadcast at 3:45. Following is the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L, the audio highlights from the game and Post-Game Show interviews with head coach Brennan Sonne, Sidorov and De La Gorgendiere…..
