Saskatchewan R-C-M-P have explained why Highway 16 eastbound was blocked for several hours on Sunday.
Twenty-four-year-old Wendy Bird of Prince Albert was identified as deceased by Warman R-C-M-P. Saskatchewan R-C-M-P Major Crimes is investigating the report received shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday morning because, based on preliminary investigation, her death is considered to be suspicious in nature.
R-C-M-P add that they released Wendy Bird’s name to assist with furthering the ongoing investigation. Anyone who has information about Wendy Bird’s whereabouts between Friday, October 14 and the morning of October 16, or were witness to any suspicious activity on Highway 16 near Maymont during the evening hours of October 15 into the 16 is encouraged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
Wendy Bird’s next of kin has been notified and an autopsy will take place Tuesday. Shortly before 6 p.m. on Sunday evening, RCMP sent word that Highway 16 had reopened to travel after it had been restricted for about six hours.
