The second Sunday in September of each year is formally designated in memory of firefighters who have fallen in the line of duty.
This as a tribute to the firefighters who risk their lives to keep Canadians safe.
Saskatoon Fire Chief Morgan Hackl says “Firefighters put their lives on the line in service every day,” adding “On Firefighters’ National Memorial Day, SFD joins cities and fire departments across the country to honour and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and to commemorate their courage and unwavering dedication to serving our communities.”
The Saskatoon Firefighters Union IAFF 80 will observe Firefighters’ National Memorial Day with a private ceremony Sunday evening.
