Saskatchewan RCMP have answered the question, “What does speeding past 8 marked police vehicles get you?” on social media, saying it gets you a seven-day impound of your vehicle and nearly $1,500 in fines.
Motorcycle officers with Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan were riding as a group on Highway 6 north of Regina doing some training with an unmarked van behind them acting as a support vehicle. Police say a car sped past the van going 146 km/h in a 100 zone and pulled in behind the motorcycles. The officer on the rear bike noted this and flashed his emergency lights, attempting to warn the driver to slow down. The social media post says the driver then pulled out to pass, driving at a very high rate of speed, pulling in behind a marked police SUV.
Two of the motorcycle officers attempted to stop the car, but it continued on, exceeding 180 km/h while passing. Eventually the car was pulled over and charged with exceeding the speed limit by over 50 km/h and driving without consideration of others on the roadway.
