The Saskatchewan Health Authority has renamed the Harm Reduction Methadone Clinic in Regina to the Opioid Addiction Treatment Clinic, or OAT Clinic for short. The SHA says the name better reflects the health services offered, which are around medical treatment options of opioid addictions.
In a news release the SHA says one of its strategic priorities this year is to improve access to integrated mental health and addiction services to reduce the risk of overdoses and deaths. Opioid agonist therapy, also known as opioid addiction treatment, has been provided through this Regina clinic for about 20 years using a combination of medication, counselling and other community supports.
