Two men were arrested by Southey R-C-M-P as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking that turned into a lot more.
Twenty-nine-year-old Darrian Laplante of Regina and 44-year-old Ryan Robson of Southey both face multiple charges after officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Southey on June 10. Located and seized were numerous packages and syringes of illicit drugs – including methamphetamine, cocaine, M-D-M-A and fentanyl – as well as drug paraphernalia, a sum of cash, a crossbow, three firearms and identification cards. There are photos of a small amount of the illicit drugs seized with our online story. The search warrant and arrests were two months in the making after an adult female driver of a suspicious vehicle was arrested on April 2 in Southey. She was wanted on warrants from the Regina Police Service with R-C-M-P officers locating drug paraphernalia and identification not belonging to the woman during the arrest. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to a number of assorted packages of suspected drugs being located and seized – including fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and M-D-M-A. Both Robson and Laplante have appeared in court with Robson scheduled to appear next in Regina Provincial Court on Friday and Laplante on June 21.
