On Monday, RCMP warned of a large police presence around the community of Stenen, which is about 33 kilometres north of Canora, and now police report that charges have been laid. Canora RCMP executed a search warrant at a home on the outskirts of the community in relation to an ongoing investigation.
Police say a truck, multiple recreational vehicles and trailers previously reported stolen from the Yorkton area were seized. Fifty year old Scott Schewigert is facing charges that include six counts of possession of property obtained by crime and four counts of tampering with a Vehicle Identification Number. He appears in Canora Provincial Court on June 2nd.
RCMP units involved in the search warrant execution and investigation include: Canora and Kamsack RCMP Detachments, Yorkton Forensic Identification Section, Yorkton and Regina RCMP General Investigation Section.
