A 29 year-old male, from Toronto, wanted in connection with a 2021 homicide in Ottawa, is among a group of men arrested last Friday in Regina. The arrests came as part of a drug trafficking investigation.

A search warrant was executed on April 1st at an apartment building on Little Pine Loop in Northwest Regina which involved several police units including: the Regina Drug Unit (RDU), the Street Gang Unit, SWAT, Canine units and Patrol.

The Regina Police Service says when officers arrived on scene, three of the suspects tried to escape out the balcony of a 4th floor apartment. One of the suspects fell from the balcony suffering serious injuries. The other two suspects resisted arrest and were bitten by a police dog. All three individuals were transported to hospital for treatment of their injuries. Three other suspects were arrested at the scene without incident.

In the search police recovered a quantity of a substance believed to be cocaine; a loaded 9mm handgun which had been modified to be fully automatic with an over capacity magazine, a .45 caliber handgun with a full magazine beside it; approximately $55,000 in Canadian currency, and drug trafficking paraphernalia. Six men arrested and charged with two of them from Edmonton, two from Toronto and two from Regina. They made their first court appearance on Monday.

Twenty-nine year-old Ahmed Abdi SIYAD was found to be the subject of an outstanding Canada-wide warrant for a homicide that occurred in Ottawa, Ontario, in May of 2021.
