The system that brought a fresh layer of snow to Saskatoon and parts of southern Saskatchewan over the last 36 hours appears to be dying down. Environment Canada meteorologist David Baggaley says Saturday will bring some light snow followed by relatively favourable conditions.
“Well the weather system that gave you that bunch of snow is weakening quite dramatically and starting to move off but there will be lingering light snow for the Saskatoon area and for the rest of the day, probably looking at one or two centimetres of pretty fluffy snow, so no great accumulation left for you.”
Baggaley says the skies will clear up tonight.
The City of Saskatoon will be continuing to clear snow over the next little while. A news release says the goal is to clear all driving lanes over the next three days. This comes after grading and sanding. Removal of snow piles on priority 2 and 3 streets will be on hold until the snow event clean up work is done.
The City was expecting up to 15 cm of snow by Friday evening. Environment Canada didn’t have any updated accumulations Saturday morning.
