There are calls for the military to move in to Ottawa to move out the truck protest in the nation’s capital while many wonder how the group can be made to leave without the situation escalating.
And Ottawa’s mayor is calling on several Conservatives MPs and a senator from Saskatchewan to apologize.
On Twitter, Saskatoon MP Kevin Waugh said a few of Saskatchewan caucus members “went to show their appreciation for the hardworking, patriotic truckers who have kept our supply chains healthy & grocery shelves stocked for the past two years.”
Waugh also said on Twitter,” It’s great to see Canadians championing freedom on Parliament Hill.”
The protest trucks have been barricading roads and honking horns in the city almost non-stop since Saturday.
Meanwhile, GoFundMe has suspended a fundraiser for the “Freedom Convoy” of truckers and supporters who have tied up downtown Ottawa while protesting vaccine mandates.
The fundraiser has currently raised more than $10 million.
