With Extreme windchills reaching into almost every corner of Saskatchewan this morning, many would probably prefer the groundhog did not see his shadow. Shubenacadie Sam in Nova Scotia saw his shadow this morning predicting six more weeks of winter while Wiarton Willie in Ontario predicted an early spring.
Either way, in Saskatchewan, it is a bitterly cold morning on Groundhog day.
An Arctic ridge of high pressure has created wind chills near -40 in much of the province and for some pushing -50.
Increasing cloudiness will bring some moderation of temperatures over western areas tonight.
Environment Canada says extreme cold puts everyone at risk and if its too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
