Firefighters responded to a blaze that was reported to have started in the furnace room of a Sutherland home this morning (sun). In a news release, the Saskatoon Fire Department responded to the fire in the 300 block of 109th Street West shortly before 5:15. The first arriving crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the basement. Fire crews brought the blaze under control, although the fire extended to the main floor and the roof. All occupants of the home were accounted for. Smoke alarms alerted the residents about the blaze. An update will be provided later according to the SFD.
