The federal Liberals were re-elected to government and so was their last Minister of Agriculture.

Marie Claude-Bibeau was returned to her Quebec riding of Compton-Stanstead by a comfortable 2,600 vote margin over the Bloc Quebecois candidate.

The odds of a Prairie Agriculture minister in the next session are very small with the Liberals only holding seats in large urban areas. The Liberals elected one MP in Edmonton and lead a close race in Calgary. They also have four MP’s in urban Winnipeg.
