Canfax reports 6,944 head of cattle were sold in Saskatchewan for the week ending August 27, about 2,700 fewer than the previous week.
Steer bids were higher in most weight categories, led by 500-600 pound steers which averaged $229.50 per hundredweight, a $7.75 increase. Six-to-seven hundred pound steers averaged $214, up $3.60.
Feeder heifer prices were lower for lighter animals and higher for the heavier weights.
Prices for live, non-fed cattle in Alberta continued their decline. D2 slaughter cows were down 48 cents to average $76.44 per hundredweight, while D3 cows were down $1.92 to average $66.33 per hundredweight. The entire report can be viewed here.
