A fire at Market Mall this morning, according to workers in the mall, started in the Dollar Store. The call came in at 9:25 a.m. and when fire crews arrived they saw smoke and fire coming from the building. The sprinkler system had activated and mall staff and shoppers had evacuated.
Firefighters had the fire completely extinguished by 10:15 a.m. A fire investigator is determining the cause of the fire and damage is estimated at $100,000. Workers at Market Mall say it is closed, for the day for sure. A spokesperson for the property management company StrathAllen confirms there was a small fire, and as a precaution for the safety of tenants and customers the mall has closed for the day.
