Mayoral candidate Charlie Clark is warning Rob Norris, one of his opponents in the race, that a Hallowe’en post he made is libelous. Clark says Norris accused him of “Terrifying treatment of female Remai Modern board members.” Clark says the post crossed a line. In a release Clark says, “For someone who is a candidate for mayor, in the context of the #MeToo movement, to make this kind of libelous claim in a Hallowe’en joke post, shows a reckless treatment of a very serious issue and significant questionable judgement.”
Clark says, “He is deliberately playing a dangerous game by taking a media story’s representation of how I talked to an entire board about a serious workplace safety issue that wasn’t being dealt with, and turning this into an accusation about how I treat women.”
Clark accuses Norris of having repeatedly manipulated facts to mislead the public. For example he says there has been no discussion at the city about putting in a carbon tax; and, he says voting again on the new Central Library would be very difficult, if not impossible. If it was reversed, Clark says, it would cost millions to residents in lawsuits.
