Lianne Rood represents the rural southwest Ontario riding of Lambton-Kent Middlesex.
Rood’s previous experience includes working as assistant to David Anderson, a former parliamentary secretary for agriculture. The tenure occurred when the Conservative government led by Stephen Harper ended the Canadian Wheat Board’s marketing monopoly.
Rood replaces southern Alberta MP John Barlow as the party’s agriculture critic. Barlow supported Peter McKay in the recent leadership race, won by Erin O’Toole.
Rood grew up on a 1,000 acre vegetable farm in Grand Bend, Ontario. She was elected as an MP in the last federal vote.
