The COVID-19 pandemic shut down the Nutana Royal Canadian Legion’s hall this summer and now the organization is looking to cover operating costs in the form of a car show and barbeque. Various car clubs from Saskatoon and area will be in attendance for what the Legion is calling the “Sip and Shine”.
Legion President Bill Flahr says physical distancing will be in effect outside and people are encouraged to wear masks. The same guidelines for restaurants and bars will be used inside the legion. He explains the proceeds will go to operating costs and help them maintain their 3 main pillars of remembrance, service to veterans and service to their community.
Flahr adds they are expecting more than 30 classic, custom and antique vehicles, and the Legion’s Museum of Military Artifacts will be open that day. The Nutana Legion’s Sip and Shine goes from 2pm until 6pm Saturday at 3021 Louise Street. The Legion will offer a $5 burger and beer, and a 50/50 draw.
