The green flag will drop August 8 and there will be racing at Wyant Group Raceway.
That’ll be the first of eight events through the middle of September. For now, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, seating is limited.
“The guidelines that are put in place right now are for 150 people in the stands,” explained Wyant Group Raceway Marketing Director Neil Schneider. “That’s not including our volunteers and our workers.
“With that 150 in place, we’re looking at about a 3% capacity at our track. So, we are asking for about a 30% capacity or 750 (fans), whichever one they’ll give us, and that’s what we’re kind of working with. We’re not asking to re-open wide open, as much as we would like to, but at the end of the day we’re just trying to re-open to where we can have some sustainability for the future.”
Grandstand seating capacity at Wyant Group Raceway is listed as 3,319 plus 15 corporate chalets. A normal season has between 15 and 18 events. Schneider said they had hoped to bring in Monster Trucks this year, but that was scrubbed…along with the very popular NASCAR Canada series race.
