It’s April fool’s Day. Once upon a time April 1 was considered the start of the New Year. When the church changed the calendar to make New Year’s Day January 1st some folks resisted the change and were labelled “April Fools”. I remember when we used to play April fool pranks on our radio listeners but that tradition petered out years ago. Even if it hadn’t, I think under the circumstances April 1st, 2020 wouldn’t be a good day to be playing jokes on people. Instead, I’d rather say hello to and a heartfelt “Thank You” to all those frontline workers that are doing so much at risk of their own health during these trying times. Health care workers in our hospitals and clinics, paramedics, police and firefighters, grocery store and drugstore workers, truck drivers, cab drivers, and those who work in radio and television, anyone who can’t isolate themselves at home because they provide an essential service. I respect what you have to do and we won’t forget who was there for us when the air has cleared and the Covid-19 Pandemic is history.
That’s Coffeetalk. I’m Vic Dubois.
April fools and thank you
