The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a fire at Confederation Mall during the lunch hour.
Around 12:30, fire crews received a 9-1-1 call indicating there was a fire in the Canadian Tire store.
According to a news release, all staff and customers self-evacuated prior to firefighters arriving.
Once crews arrived, they found that a staff member had successfully put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher. Electric fans were used to clear out smoke in the store.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and it’s believed to be suspicious in nature.
The fire resulted in an estimated $5000 dollars of damage to the store and its contents.
