A unique note in Blades history will come to an end Wednesday night as Saskatoon visits Lethbridge.
Koen MacInnes (pictured) makes his W-H-L regular-season debut in goal for the Bridge City Bunch. Until the puck drops Wednesday, the 17-year-old shares a distinction in Blue and Gold history with former N-H-L defenceman Dean Kennedy. Until Wednesday night, both saw action in the W-H-L playoffs for the Blades, without suiting up in a regular-season game. During the 1982-83 season, Saskatoon acquired Kennedy from Brandon while he was playing in the N-H-L with the L-A Kings as a 19-year-old. He was returned to junior in time for the playoffs and suited up for four post-season games with the Bridge City Bunch without ever playing a regular-season game. MacInnes got into two games for the Blue and Gold back in the spring against Prince Albert in the second round of the post-season. The Burnaby, B-C product changes that tonight against the Hurricanes, making his first W-H-L start in the process.
It’s the 1-3-0 Blades…losers of three straight…against 2-1-1 Lethbridge. Game time is 7 o’clock with the broadcast on 98-COOL, beginning at 6 with the Sardinia Family Restaurant pre-game show.
