Another first for the Schneider family, Huskie Athletics and the Canada West Hall-of-Fame.
The Conference’s freshly-minted shrine announced Thursday the addition of Brent Schneider to the first 100 inductees. He joins father Val Schneider…the first inductee announced last month, meaning they are the first “father-son” duo to be enshrined.
Brent Schneider was a two-time Vanier Cup-participant as quarterback with the U of S football team…in 1994 and 96. He’s the only Canada West athlete to be named M-V-P of two Vanier Cup games. He went on to be a valued member of Brian Towriss’ coaching staff upon the end of his playing days. Following is the news release from the Canada West Hall-of-Fame…

Two-time Vanier Cup MVP Schneider honoured

EDMONTON – Brent Schneider’s outstanding career at the University of Saskatchewan has landed the former quarterback in the Canada West Hall of Fame.
Schneider, who is the lone CW player to be named Vanier Cup MVP twice, was inducted into the conference Hall of Fame on Thursday. He joins his father Val in the Hall, as the pair are the first father-son duo to be inducted.
During a standout career at the University of Saskatchewan between 1992 and 1996, Schneider led the Huskies to two Hardy Cup titles (1994 and 1996) and a pair of Vanier Cup appearances.
The Huskies dropped the 1994 Vanier Cup to Western despite an MVP performance from Schneider, who set records with 528 passing yards, 67 attempts and 36 completions in a 50-40 overtime loss.
Two years later, Schneider and Saskatchewan secured the national title with 31 unanswered points in a 31-12 win over St. FX, as he became the first CW player to earn multiple Vanier Cup MVP awards.
