The first-ever Saskatchewan Rattlers training camp started Wednesday at the U of S.
Nineteen players are listed on the roster, although some are still playing with their respective winter league club teams and aren’t available yet to be seen by G-M and head coach Greg Jockims (pictured). Saskatchewan Rattlers Announce Training Camp Roster and Schedule Young and explosive team ready to take the court in Saskatchewan.
SASKATOON, April 30, 2019 – The Saskatchewan Rattlers, member club of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), are excited to announce the first ever training camp roster and schedule in Rattlers history. Former University of Saskatchewan stand-out Michael Linklater highlights an athletic and explosive roster.
Training camp begins Wednesday, May 1st at the University of Saskatchewan and runs to Sunday, May 5th. Media availability for interviews and b-roll footage will be possible on Friday, May 3rd from 10:15-12:00 a.m. A detailed schedule can be found below.
Players at camp include FIBA 3×3 Team Winnipeg stalwart Jelane Pryce, Commonwealth Games Team Canada member Justus Alleyn, CEBL draft pick Alex Campbell. Fellow Canadians Nolan Brudehl (University of Saskatchewan) and Negus Webster-Chan (Raptors 905) will also be at camp. Joining them are import players QJ Peterson Jr. (Apeol B.C. – Cyprus), Tavrion Dawson (Cal St. Northridge – United States), Showron Glover (SLUNETA Ústí nad Labem – Czech Republic), Peter Jurkin (East Tennessee State University – United States), Robert Heyer (South Bay Lakers – United States), Marlon Johnson (Imortal – Portugal), Bruce Massey (Cape Breton Highlanders), and Lawrence Moore (University of Saskatchewan). Only three imports will be allowed to be on the final roster.
CEBL U Sports round selection and Regina native, Chan De Ciman of the University of Saskatchewan will also be joining the team. All CEBL teams must employ one U Sports Developmental player on its active roster.
“The gentlemen coming into camp are ready to compete and battle for a spot on the final roster,” said Rattlers Head Coach and GM, Greg Jockims. “We have a group of tough, talented, and tenacious players who will put on a show and play very high-level basketball.”
Rattlers CEBL draft picks Denzel James (KW Titans), Chad Posthumus (Halifax Hurricanes), Terry Thomas (Halifax Hurricanes) and Gentrey Thomas (Moncton Magic) are currently participating in NBLC playoffs and will join the team at the conclusion of their postseason. Former University of Saskatchewan Huskie, Shane Osayande will also join the team at a later date, as he concludes his season in Spain.
The Rattlers inaugural season begins on May 9th when they take on the Niagara River Lions. Fans are able to reserve their place in history by visiting the Rattlers website.
