SEIU-West is giving notice that as of Thursday evening at 6:00, support workers at Elmwood Group Homes will be expanding their withdrawal of services. At that time the union members will not be picking up, receiving, or putting away groceries, and any other supplies. They will also refuse the relocation of scheduled shifts between the EGH Homes in Saskatoon. President Barb Cape says it’s their way of showing the employer that they are serious about wanting to resolve a bargaining impasse. There is already a withdrawal of transportation services. Cape says they continue to communicate with the employer in hopes of getting back to the bargaining table. The Labour Relations Board will hold a full hearing later this month on whether essential services provisions of The Saskatchewan Employment Act apply in the circumstances.
