Residents in All Seniors Care homes in Saskatoon will experience three days of summer camp this week.
Ronna Goldberg, National Event Planner with ASC, says during the Ultimate Backyard Summer Camp, residents will go to different demonstrations, learn skills and receive badges.
Due to the pandemic, Goldberg says they have moved everything 100% outdoors. She says they will be really mindful of keeping people distanced, wearing masks and using sanitizers, so the event will be fun and safe.
The camp starts Tuesday with an Italian inspired day of story writing, artists and games. Wednesday will have a western theme, while Thursday will be a Kentucky Derby day and include the camp trophy presentations.
Goldberg says each camp will also have their own mascot, in Saskatoon’s Preston Park residence, Noodleman will be on hand to use pool noodles as a reminder of the space needed for social distancing.
ASC has 31 retirement residences, 2 in Saskatoon and 2 in Regina. Goldberg says activities are mirrored to be the same throughout the 5 provinces the ASC operates in.
