Well, well, well! What wonderfully warm weather we woke up to this morning, relatively speaking of course. Lately it’s been colder than a Bay Street banker’s heart. I’ll bet a few people with older vehicles were snooping around in the garage to see if they still had any of those oblong frost shields that used to adorn side windows back in the day. And if you are nodding your head remembering that you are dating yourself. I talked to my dad out in Victoria last week and for once he didn’t rub it in weather-wise. The reason being Victoria actually had some snow and for a couple of days the high temperature was minus 3. I think that city almost shuts down under those conditions. Their snow removal budget is only enough to buy a broom. Hopefully we’re done with bitter cold but one never knows thinking back to last February. You know what we say; at least it’s a dry cold. On days like today, in Saskatchewan we throw on a bunny hug while West Coasters who don’t know what that is anyway put on hats, gloves and winter coats. At minus 20 we throw on a coat and they stay indoors. At minus 40 we still ride our bikes and greet each other with “Cold enough for ya, eh”? Admittedly at minus 50’s windchill even we’ve had enough and at minus 80 hell freezes over and the Leafs win the Stanley Cup.
That’s Coffeetalk. I’m Vic Dubois.
