There will be some changes, but civic elections in Saskatchewan will still happen on November 9th despite COVID-19.
Returning Officer with the City of Saskatoon, Scott Bastian, says they have been keeping an eye on what other jurisdictions are doing and waiting for more specifics from the province on any safety requirements in terms of physical distancing, hand sanitizing, gloves and masks, because they want to have the appropriate resources on hand.
An additional advance poll location has been added for a total of 8, which Bastian hopes will take some of the pressure off election day and they are encouraging mail-in ballots for those who want to eliminate contact with others.
The advance polls will run from October 30th to November 5th and the election office opens July 2nd.

On June 1st, the campaign expense period began.
Candidates for seats on council can spend up to a total of almost $23-thousand while mayoral candidates have a limit of almost $230-thousand.
For both public and separate school board trustees, the campaign limit is $10-thousand.
The nomination period runs from September 22nd until October 7th.
The provincial election is 2 weeks before the civic election, on October 26th.
