Premier Scott Moe has pledged the province’s full support to the families and first responders involved in the Humboldt Broncos bus accident.

He told reporters at the Saturday afternoon news conference in Saskatoon it will be a coordinated effort.

“I joined in a government operations call where I reinforced our government’s commitment to ensure that every resource at our disposal is made available to help all of those impacted by this tragedy.”

The premier also said efforts would go beyond the border of Saskatchewan.

“As we understand each of these players not only went to school in Humboldt, but quite often originates from another community, “ sometimes from across Saskatchewan, but in this case even across other provinces in Canada,” said Moe.

The Premier also asked the residents of Saskatchewan to join the government effort.

“I’m asking everyone to do what they can to support families that are suffering and communities that have been devastated by this loss and a community we know will persevere.”

Premier Moe said the tragedy hits home with most people as riding buses to sporting and cultural events is commonplace.

“I traveled the bus as a child, my brother played in this league, everybody across this province can relate to  putting their child on a bus, whether it be for a hockey game, a soccer game, whether it be for a choir, concert, or whatever that may be.”

Moe expressed confidence in Humboldt’s ability to heal following a harrowing aftermath of the bus crash with the help of the people of Saskatchewan.

“We are neighbours, we are friends and we are family,  tightly knit, the bonds are strong and there is no place where we are stronger than in our hockey arenas, the heart of so many communities in this province, we are really just one small town, the heart of so many communities in this province,” said Moe.
