“Winning Wednesday” has different meanings for the Regina Pats, the Saskatoon Blades…and for fans attending Wednesday night’s game at SaskTel Centre.
For the fans, a Bridge City Bunch victory means they walk out of the building with a ticket for Sunday’s matinee contest against Moose Jaw.
For the Pats, a win means moving out of the bottom three spots in the overall W-H-L standings…thus meaning their first round Bantam Draft pick cannot turn into a first overall selection as the Blue and Gold hold it after a trade two years ago.
As for the Blades, two points is two valuable points in the East Division standings as Saskatoon sits in fourth place, four points back of idle Brandon.
Scoring on the power play has been a part of their last five wins. Unfortunately for the Blades, they haven’t connected on the man advantage in each of their last four losses, including a 4-3 overtime setback in Regina two Sundays ago.
Game time is 7 p.m. with the broadcast at 6 on 98-COOL, beginning with the Sardinia Family Restaurant pre-game show. Meanwhile, the division-leading Prince Albert Raiders open a three-game Alberta road trip Wednesday night in Medicine Hat and second place Winnipeg…four points back of P-A…hosts Moose Jaw.
