Over the course of 2019, Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation in Saskatoon cared for more animals than ever before.
Throughout the year, the organization took in 1,100 birds and 177 mammals for a total of 1,277 admissions.
Administrative Director, Ian Goodwillie says one of the highlights for the year was caring for two orphaned black bear cubs.
They were at risk of being euthanized and Living Sky Rehabilitation was able to keep them until the Saskatoon Zoo stepped in to rehabilitate them. It’s expected that the two bears will be released sometime in 2020.
Goodwillie says they also had wonderful porcupine that stayed with them over the winter that ended up having a baby which Goodwillie says was quite adorable.
The Administrative Director says in 2020, they hope to expand their education program by getting out in the community more. Those who are interested in having Living Sky come for presentation can do so by checking out their Facebook page and sending a message.
Living Sky made over 40 presentations in 2019. The organization has three educators who take a variety of animals to classrooms, community groups and other events.
