It’s my Parting Shot for some Monday Musings…
I’ll be in Swift Current tonight to call the first Game 7 of the W-H-L Playoffs as the Broncos host the Regina Pats in what has been a strange series. I have yet to witness a close, nail-biting contest for 60 minutes in the first six games. Even the 2-1 Regina victory in Game 2 was a no-doubter that the Pats were going to win. The other five tilts have been decided by no less than three goals! Everything else that you would expect between two very good and evenly-matched teams has been in evidence…intensity, physicality, great goaltending, etcetera. The only thing missing…end of game drama! Maybe, Game 7 will provide that!!
A second Game 7 will be played tomorrow in Moose Jaw. From the outside and casual following perspective, the fact that Prince Albert is taking the Warriors to a seventh contest is shocking. I’ve done my best to tell anyone who says that to me that I’m not surprised. The Raiders are playing a big, heavy game and making many of Moose Jaw’s skilled players ineffecvtive in the process. P-A might be the favourite, as things stand right now, to win the East Division and Eastern Conference next season. But, they want to start a few months early…and might succeed!
Can you imagine on Wednesday morning…the second and fourth ranked Major Junior hockey teams in Canada are both on the sidelines?! I don’t think it will happen that way, but the chances are much better than they were 11 days ago!
That’s my Parting Shot, I’m Les Lazaruk.
