The University of Regina and the Gabriel Dumont Institute have signed a couple partnerships to continue advancing Metis education in the province.
The schools have agreed to a new affiliation agreement and a renewal of the Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program offered through GDI.
Dr. Thomas Chase with the U of R says they’re hoping to become more creative in how they deliver courses to more people across the province.
“We can’t always ask people, especially adult learners, or mid-career learners who’ve got families and frequently have jobs, always to come on to campus. Instead we’re looking at other ways to deliver more programming in local communities, on-line and via television, to meet the needs of those people.”
The U of R and GDI hope these agreements will allow for sustainable and cost-effective educational opportunities for the Metis community, providing members affordable university programming. (ckrm Oct 27/19)
