If you’re in the Yorkton area and notice lots of emergency vehicles around Sacred Heart High School, or if you notice comments where people are wondering what’s going on through social media, it’s a lock-down drill that will continue from about 9:45 to 11 a.m.
Yorkton RCMP, the Fire Department and Crestview Ambulance will be responding during the drill. Police say the exercise will help the high school and Christ the Teacher Catholic Schools develop their emergency policies, and it helps responders to practice their protocols. Because of the drill, the RCMP are asking parents not to contact the school or their children directly. A ringing phone could give away the secure location the kids are in. Parents are asked not to come to the school during the lock-down drill.
