Because of the increasing trend of online shopping, it’s becoming unusual to see a re-investment in shopping malls across the country, but that’s what is happening at Midtown Plaza. The new food hall called Midtown Common has opened its doors on the upper floor of what used to be the Sears location.

Mayor Charlie Clark says the Midtown owners realized that even with the challenges of online shopping, there is opportunity in Saskatoon because of other developments in this city. He believes Midtown Common along with the opening of Mountain Equipment Co-op next spring will mean more destinations for people coming in to the city which helps drive our economy and brings strength to the downtown core.

The food hall is 42-thousand square feet with 16 vendors and has 25 per cent more seating than the previous food court.
The next step is to begin work on the old food court for next spring’s opening of Mountain Equipment Co-op.
