The Water Security Agency says most lakes in Southern Saskatchewan are within their desirable operating ranges. That’s despite below normal snow melt runoff into the Qu’Appelle River and drier than normal conditions across Southern Saskatchewan. The agency credits its own additional spring management for the situation. The WSA also says that while some of the lakes may appear to be at reduced levels compared to high flow years, they are actually within desirable summer operating ranges. Round Lake is the exception; it is projected to be about 85cm or 33.5 inches below that mark.
Lakes actively monitored on this system include Buffalo Pound, Last Mountain, Pasqua, Echo, Mission, Katepwa, Crooked and Round.
