Blue is the colour to show your support for World Autism Awareness Day today (Tues), as World Autism month begins with the goal of bringing awareness to Autism Spectrum Disorder. The provincial budget included more than $12-million in annual funding for autism services and supports. $3.5-million of that goes to the ASD Individualized Funding program. Health Minister Jim Reiter says the government brought in individualized funding last year.
Both the Autism Resource Centre in Regina and Autism Services of Saskatoon are receiving an increase of $100-thousand and that increase will allow both organizations to hire a mental health professional to enhance mental health services and supports for those with autism and their families.
