It wasn’t that long ago that the temperatures hovered near zero with some rain before the temperature dropped, leaving sidewalks icy.
The Saskatoon Fire Department reminds the public to be care on the walks, and reminds homeowners that they are required to keep sidewalks clear of snow and ice withing 48 hours of a snowfall and it’s 24 hours for businesses.
Sand can help to improve traction, but the Fire Department suggests that salt isn’t effective when it’s colder than -15, however there are other ice melting compounds that can be used.
