Joshua Petrin’s first degree murder conviction will stand.
The Saskatchewan Court of Appeal has dismissed his application to overturn the conviction in the 2012 shooting death of Lorry Ann Santos.
The 34-year-old mother of four was gunned down in her Saskatoon home after answering the doorbell.
The hit men sent to kill a former member of the Alberta based White-Boy Posse gang went to the wrong address.
The prosecution accused Petrin of ordering the hit.
Petrin who was also found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder in 2016 has always maintained his innocence.
The three member appeals court panel ruled there were no flaws in the judge’s evaluation of the evidence and the new evidence proposed by Petrin’s lawyer wouldn’t have likely changed the verdict.
Petrin is serving a life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years.
